Autonomous Drones for Parcel Delivery

Development of unique solutions for parcel delivery using autonomous drones that can operate in both GNSS and GNSS-denied environments, transitioning smoothly between them.

Application

Autonomous Parcel Delivery

Advances in drone applications have made it possible to deliver packages to remote or hard-to-reach areas. Drones may play a critical role in delivering first aid supplies or postal packages to locations where traditional means of transportation are inadequate.

In emergency scenarios, drones can provide first responders with medical supplies when infrastructure damage prevents ground or air transport. Drones could be used to deliver parcels with blood samples, vaccines, defibrillators, and other life-sustaining medical materials not only in rugged environments, but also within or between hospital complexes, clinics, and laboratories.

In postal services, drone technology has the potential to bridge the gap in access to essential and consumer goods in remote regions where traditional delivery methods are inefficient or impractical.

Solution

Autonomous Delivery Drones from Fly4Future

Fly4Future team members participated in a pilot project with CTU and Packeta Group, owner of the leading Czech technology company Zásilkovna, and other companies providing delivery services. The goal of the project was to develop drone technology for GNSS-denied positioning and navigation, as well as for the transition from GNSS-denied to GNSS for the flight out of the warehouse. This technology was successfully implemented and then showcased in the Czech Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Fly4Future offers drones equipped with advanced onboard sensors that enable efficient parcel delivery. A key feature of our drones is their obstacle detection and avoidance systems that prioritize safe and seamless delivery operations. Our drones work autonomously, requiring only the input of the package’s initial location in the warehouse and the delivery address. This streamlined process allows for a hassle-free experience from start to finish.

In addition, Fly4Future drones provide a reliable solution for efficient “last mile” delivery of small packages weighing up to 2 kg. In this process, a shipment of packages is delivered by van to various locations. Drones then take over, programmed to locate the recipients at the end of their journey, increasing customer satisfaction by ensuring accurate parcel delivery.
